How to Implement Your Marketing Strategies

January 30th, 2011

Researching the latest and greatest ways to implement effective marketing strategies is usually not the problem when it comes to failed marketing campaigns. The actual implementation itself is generally what holds people up.

Many small business owners take the time to do their research, but then when it comes time to try out a new marketing strategy, all of a sudden there are a million more important things to do. Then they whine when their marketing efforts are working.

Many marketers and small business owners are just scared of the effort and pain associated with trying something new. Of course, you’ve heard the saying “No pain, no gain,” which applies to marketing too.

You can search for kooky marketing ideas that will get your business noticed, but until you actually do one of those ideas, you won’t get any results. This may seem like common sense, but it seems as though some marketers think that knowledge is power – knowing how to do something is not the same as executing it.

Jay Levinson, the pioneer of guerrilla marketing, suggests people do three to five things related to marketing per day. Studies show it takes 3 weeks to develop a habit. So if you can incorporate a marketing action into your life for 3 weeks, you’ll make it a habit to implement marketing every day, and it won’t be so hard to try something new.

How to get started implementing
First, you need to manage your marketing activities. Write down what you want to do and when. Make a chart to keep track of your initiatives. You can also use your marketing plan as a reviewing tool to see how many marketing projects you’ve implemented. You could also use a checklist to keep track of what you need to do and by when to implement an activity.

For instance, if you plan on mailing out product catalogs every quarter to update your selection, plan on calling the catalog printing company to make sure they’ll be ready to print when you are.

Set up an accountability system. This can be part of your chart where you keep track of initiatives. Or you can set up a simple Excel spreadsheet that lists the date, action, cost, personnel used, target completion date, date completed and results.

By managing your activities and being accountable for them, you’re well on your way to actually putting the marketing strategies in motion.

It’s important to note that the planning isn’t actual implementation; it’s what happens before implementation. You can’t say “Well I wrote down my plan for next month, so I’m already implementing my strategy.” That’s not how it works! Nice try, though.

Successfully implementing a marketing activity requires:
o Focus – on the task at hand and the end results
o Attention to detail – you need to make sure you do everything that is planned and leave nothing out
o Managing – make sure everyone who has a task is working on that task
o Delegating – do what you know how to do best and outsource the rest

Implementation is key to your success. If you can implement some kind of marketing effort every day, no matter how small, you’ll be that much closer than your competitor to getting that new customer.

The Hiring of Marketing Consultants Can Increase Company Revenue

January 30th, 2011

A number of reasons exist in the hiring of marketing consultants for your business. Increasing your exposure in the marketplace is one facet that a consultant might tackle. Another is the creation and implementation of a marketing plan. Of course, the primary reason why you would hire an outside consultant for your marketing needs is to increase overall company revenue.

More Money is a No-Brainer

The main goal of marketing is to increase the revenues for your business. Therefore, it is important for you to recognize when a marketing or advertising and promotions plan is not working for your company. If sales have slacked off or new customers are not being attracted to your products or services, it is the perfect time to invest in the services of marketing consultants. A consultant will evaluate your entire company before offering techniques, advice and promotional methods that will benefit your company as a whole.

While there are no guarantees on the amount of new business your consultant will bring in, it is important to recognise that hiring one for your marketing needs is essential. They can help your company with branding and product identification, increasing exposure through advertising and promotions and even website redesign and online marketing services. If your business offers excellent products and services and just needs to get the word out, a consultant is an important addition to your corporate team, even if only temporarily.

Help at Any Marketing Stage

A good consultant in the marketing field should be able to step in at any point in your marketing project. Perhaps you already have a marketing plan in place but implementation is not going as you would have hoped. It is not too late to bring in a marketing consultant. Of course, a marketing plan and implementation would appear more seamless if you hired a consultant from the get go.

The good news is that a consultant will stick with you as long as you would like. Do you just want a professional to create a plan for your marketing team to implement? That scenario is a possibility. You can also hire a professional to plan, implement and even track the progress of a marketing campaign. Having a marketing team member on the payroll indefinitely to oversee the entire project can be a smart move and important to your financial bottom line.

Marketing is not a business activity that ebbs and flows. You must constantly be on the ball to maintain your product or service presence in the marketplace. Otherwise, customers may forget about you. Marketing consultants can help you stay on top of the competition and help ensure that clients will think of your company first for their needs.

An Efficient Website Marketing Program

January 30th, 2011

When you are working in SEO and have a new website that needs marketing, the scope of the project can be quite a handful.

In the past, I have observed that when I work more hours for the website to have better outcomes, I would easily get distracted and thus, fewer work is performed. This is a common mistake for search engine optimizers when they start a project with a website. They jump into a project implementing all the changes possible right away resulting to little or no progress at all. This could be very stressful, especially when you are working with a timeline.

Because of this, I tried to find ways to strategically approach a project prioritizing the fastest and easiest way to earn online money for my clients. In this article you will find my SEO marketing plan that has done nothing but good to my SEO consulting work. You may as well try and implement this system into your business to see for yourselves the good results.

I call my system the Train Track Formula. The system is called as such since starting a project is like getting on a train. For example, you get on a train at the first stop and get off at its last. So, along the way, you will encounter several stops before you arrive on your destination. Delays must always be expected before you arrive at your destination.

The same idea goes with any home-based business or in this case, SEO. You cannot finish your project immediately since there are really no shortcuts. The project approach consists of several steps that you have to follow. Discipline is what differentiates a great SEO consultant from just a good one. The former knows how to navigate from the point of origin to finish with all tasks accomplished. He expects delays and knows how to strategically resolve them.

If the Train Track Formula idea still hasn’t clicked for you, this is my advice for you to do:

If you have an SEO project at hand that has an overwhelming amount of work, the key to finishing the project successfully is organization. Take time to analyze the scope of the project and estimate the amount of time that you need to finish everything. If say, you need a whole year to go through with the project, divide the tasks into 12 months using 12 folders, each folder containing tasks that are suitable to the month or weeks that you assigned them to. You should make sure to finish all tasks in one folder before going to the next. It is strongly advised to focus on the current task and not several tasks since this will really ensure your project’s progress up to its completion. Learn to prioritize on things that will give you a good image as well as let your client be lucrative.

This system works for me very well, you are most welcome to try this however you are encouraged to find a system that works for you and meets your needs. What is important is to take on an SEO project strategically to avoid being overwhelmed and burned out.
